Pegasus

There is not much to say on the subject of Pegasus, but that doesn’t mean that what the artists use to depict him is not meaningful. His overall design and coloration are quite simple, and in drawing him like this, the artists tell us that Pegasus himself is a simple character.

Pegasus was created by Zeus, the god of the sky, out of the clouds themselves, and it is evident in his coloration. Pegasus is comprised of only two colors, white and light blue, the colors of the skies. These colors indicate that he not only flies but that he is also made of the very sky he lives in. His coloration also gives him an air of purity and innocence, given that blue and white are often associated with these traits. And on a funnier note, these colors tell us he can be quite the airhead as well.

In addition to the colors chosen for him, the width of the lines he is drawn with tell us more about him. Pegasus is drawn with thin, curving lines that give him a light and airy feel. With these clean and simple lines, we can tell that he is a character that does not have much to him. As I previously stated, he is a simple character and does not have much of a personality. And in using a minimal amount of thin lines, the audience is again reminded of this.
